This project was created for a pavilion at Expo 2020. I wanted to represent Iranian culture, and I thought the best way was through Persian literature—because it is deeply connected to design, people's lifestyle, and architecture. I searched for a symbol that only belongs to Iran. So, I chose Simorgh, a legendary bird that appears in Persian poems like Shahnameh and Conference of the Birds. The shape of the pavilion is based on Simorgh, and each hole in the structure represents one of the birds who followed their dream to reach Simorgh (based on the story). The material used is clay, which is environmentally friendly and helps with ecological concerns. Inside the pavilion, there are screens showing the architecture of Yazd and the nature of Iran. On the wall of the ramp, poems are written that talk about Simorgh in Shahnameh. There are also monitors that show Iran’s environment and tourist attractions. it ranked 13th globally in the Expo competition, as voted by the public.
